What does chronological age mean?
Chronological age is a person's age measured from their date of birth to a particular date. It is commonly written in completed years, months and days. It is different from biological age, which refers to estimates of the body's condition and functioning. This calculator reports calendar-based chronological age; it does not estimate biological or developmental age.
Frequently Asked Questions
Learn more about calculating your exact age.
What is chronological age?
Chronological age is the amount of calendar time that has passed since a person's birth, expressed in years, months and days.
Can I calculate my age on a past or future date?
Yes. Enter your date of birth and select any valid reference date on or after it. The calculator will show your age on that date.
Does the calculator account for leap years?
Yes. Calendar calculations use the actual number of days in each month and account for leap days. For a February 29 birthday, the next-birthday display uses February 28 in a non-leap year as a conventional observance date.
Is my date of birth stored or uploaded?
No. The age calculation is performed locally in your browser. This page's calculator code does not transmit your entered dates to a server.
What is the difference between chronological and biological age?
Chronological age is based on elapsed calendar time since birth. Biological age is an estimate of the body's physiological condition and cannot be determined from a date of birth alone.
